Well, it's official. I've become a part time member of the "Dark Side." Picked up a Masi Vincere road bike last Tuesday. Aluminum frane with carbon seat stays and carbon fork, Tiagra componets with a 105 rear der. It's NOT going to replace my Trance X but it sure is fun! I've already put about 150 miles on it. Butts getting a bit sore though. :)

Trying Something New

I love my adjustable seatpost so I've been trying more downhill trails lately. Tried Boneshaker at the Cowboy Trails the other day and it sucked! I don't see how anyone can ride most of it. Went out to Bootleg today and rode the shuttle up to the top of the hill. (Now THATS the ticket...screw that pedaling all the way up there.) From the parking lot, it's still quite a little hike to the trailhead. I found myself walking quite a bit of the first section going down. Lots of loose stuff, off camber rocks and a REALLY scary drop. After that, it wasn't that bad. Some steep loose sections but I was able to ride most of it. I'd like to try a bike with more suspension to see if I could ride a few of the easier sections I walked.

Back To Mountain Springs

Friday afternoon my friend Eugene wanted to ride out of Mountain Springs. I figured I may as well get one more ride in before snow makes it impassible. Here's a photo of Eugene and his wheels. Good thing we took lights because it was way dark by the time we got back to the cars.

Mountain Springs Ride 11/19/2010

My buddy Brandon and I started at Mountain Springs Bar and rode up to the overlook. It's about 5 miles one way but it's pretty brutal. Great view from the overlook though.

New Bike!

Just got a new set of wheels. A 2010 Giant Trance X3. Been waiting a while for this baby. I've been out on a short ride but I plan on putting it through it's paces this weekend.

Gooseberry Mesa Trip

Tomorrow me and some of the guys are headed up to Goosberry Mesa outside Hurricane Utah. This will be my first trip up there. JT at JT's Bike Shop is letting me use their Giant Trance X1 demo bike for the day. I am stoked!

Got in rides this Saturday & Sunday. Saturday sucked! Rained most of the ride and turned into a mudfest. Sunday was actually pretty nice. No rain and the trails were in good shape.
